Where to stay
Ett Hem
I’d say this is one the best hotels in the world. As clichéd as it sounds, it really is like being invited into a loving family member’s beautifully designed home. It has that sense of having been curated throughout years of collecting, with pieces from many different periods and époques. You’ll be served the most down-to-earth dinner that tastes better than anything you’ve ever eaten. It’s the epitome of understated luxury.

Hotel Diplomat
A cosy hotel that lives and breathes Swedish spirit, and the Stockholm way of decorating in warm grey tones. It offers the most amazing breakfast, with waterfront views over Nybrokajen (the bay in central Stockholm). During the festive season, they light the open fireplace in the main dining room and have a large, beautifully decorated Christmas tree. It’s very special.

Where to eat
Astoria
A fancy Swedish-meets-French restaurant in a warm but contemporary dining room.
Brutalisten
Artist Carsten Höller’s restaurant is inspired by the bold simplicity of Brutalism. It’s a true experience and not for the faint-hearted! That said, it is the most special place in Stockholm right now. The setting is remarkable – everything is built on a 5-degree angle and the walls are decorated with the most extraordinary Dan Flavin mural-installation.
Gazza
Where you’ll find Stockholm’s best pasta!
Mäster Anders
Your go-to for a traditional Swedish meal. Have tons of red wine and you’ll walk out loving life!

Where to shop
Nordic Knots
Obviously, the newly opened, flagship Nordic Knots store in Stockholm is a must-visit. The space dates back to the early 1900s and was originally a cinema located at 58 Birger Jarlsgatan. We designed it together with NYC-based architect Giancarlo Valle. It’s both a gallery space for exhibiting our latest collections and collaborations, and a place for our customers to come in and enjoy a cup of coffee. The sample bar is where clients can explore all our fabrics and styles, experiencing the quality in an intimate setting whilst also receiving advice and expertise from our team. We want the overall rug-buying experience to be more fun and inspiring than it typically has been. Choosing a rug shouldn't have to be so difficult but instead should be a pleasure. That’s why we have the coffee bar. And just as the bar in Tom Cruise’s classic movie Cocktail is called Cocktails & Dreams, we call our bar Coffees & Samples!

Totême
The perfect wardrobe-builder – this is where I find most of my best-loved pieces.
Savannahs
The only shop in Stockholm that carries a really stylish selection of shoe brands. Even Alaia!
NK/Nordiska Kompaniet
The most iconic department store in Stockholm, which was built in the early 1900s. Don't go to the fashion department; instead go to the grocery store in the basement!
Broadway and Sons
This is where I get all my vintage Levi’s jeans. The stock is well-priced and extremely well curated – the very best of combinations!
Jackson Design
Jackson Design has built one of the most extensive collections of 20th-century Scandinavian and international vintage design, consistently offering rare and museum-quality pieces. Pay them a visit to seek inspiration about what to buy for your next home.

What to pack
I only pack black and white and denim – it's a habit I’ve retained from the years when I spent too much of my time on aeroplanes! I hate not having what I like to wear when travelling, and feeling like my look isn’t exactly the way I want it – it really affects my mood. So, a black and white wardrobe keeps things simple and elegant. For a weekend city break, I pack at least six pairs of shoes and always include two pieces of outerwear: one sporty and one more evening friendly. And I never travel without my jewellery box.
