Of the many items decorative and functional to have adorned the legendary Eames house in California, one which has stood for over fifty years is the figure of a lacquered wooden bird. A revered icon of American folk art, it was clearly one of Charles and Ray Eames' more prized possessions gleaned from their extensive travels, and appeared as an accessory in numerous of the Eameses' photographs. Vitra have faithfully recreated this intriguing piece so your home too can be graced by its friendly presence.

About the artist: Exhibited internationally, Lauri’s assemblages bring together discarded objects, collage and painting to create bold, graphic compositions. From book covers to sweet wrappers, the found objects she gathers form the starting point for geometric works inspired by mid-century architecture and abstract art. Lauri views her process as a balancing act, searching for the sweet spot where the shapes, textures and colours combine. The statuesque Parasol echoes the grander, more expressive forms of Art Nouveau lighting design. Its tall stem, which is weighted at the base, casts a direct light, making it an ideal reading lamp. The moulded paper-pulp shade and base is hand-painted in a choice of finishes, three plains and two patterns. Paper pulp is a natural material with its own idiosyncrasies and imperfections. The highly tactile surface created by the pulp is an eco-friendly equivalent to ceramic or plaster. The choice of an organic material adds character and texture to your interior. Made to order. Inspired by the 1950s, this tall and distinguished lamp has a clean and architectural form. Its tapered details and heavy, concave plinth are well crafted.

Smooth, polished, sculptural. The Egg Sculpture in Brass serves as an ornament for your shelf or coffee table, or functional and as a door stop. Imperfections and signs of their hand made nature are welcomed and to be expected. These are not completely smooth, nor are they intended to be. Each Egg is individual and there may be slight bumps, knicks and/or scratches in the egg shape. A playful juxtaposition between the polish, shine and evidence of the turn of a hand.

Beautifully handcrafted using skills passed down for generations, Casa De Folklore's Horezu collection is a gorgeous addition to your table setting. Size: 25.5cm diameter. 6cm height. Casa De folklore's artisans from Vâlcea county Romania, honour Horezu pottery and have practiced the craft since childhood. Each piece is lovingly handmade in their home atelier using techniques that have been passed down through generations. The colours used are natural, made from local minerals and clays, then applied to the ceramics with cow horns and fine tuned with wooden sticks. Each piece is shaped on a simple kick wheel and decorated with a traditional motif. As with all handmade crafts, no two pieces are the same. Each pattern is unique and showcases imperfections and the marks of the craftsman. Colours may also vary depending on the piece selected. Washing by hand is recommended to ensure a long life for your pottery.

This chair's design is based on bold marks and primitive volumes. The solid wood is shaped and then patiently brushed so that the grain can be felt to the touch. The legs are elegantly placed on the ground and the seat, a circle crafted with the stuffing technique, is designed with a simple and tight weave, composed of rope bands that horizontally overlap the main vertical order. Also available in natural ash with a natural or black rope weave.
